INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE VICTIMS OF ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCES
#WakoWapi ? On 30th August 2020, we joined other Human Rights Organizations from Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, and the great people of Coast region in commemorating the International Day of the Victims of ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCES in Msambweni Sub-County, Kwale County - Kenya. The event was marked by conducting a Peaceful Procession from Kona ya Musa, Diani to Corner Beach where we held a 30-minutes vigil, followed by a submission of a Memorandum to the Area OCPD.
MENTAL HEALTH/TRAUMA HEALING SUPPORT TRAINING
On 25th August 2020, our members joined other groups in a Mental Health/Trauma Healing Support Training courtesy of our partners Sambasport Youth Agenda which was held at Mwaroni Village, Diani.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
On 21st August 2020, we were presented by our Executive Director (in a yellow T-Shirt) in pre-public participation for the preparation of the Kwale County Annual Development Plan (CADP) for the Financial Year 2021/2022 in Gombato/Bongwe Ward.
PROTEST AGAINST KENYA POWER AND LIGHTING COMPANY (KPLC)
On 06th August 2020, led by our Executive Director we joined other Human Rights Organizations and the people of Kwale County in a PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION against Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), who have been reluctant in service delivery. The DEMO was provoked after a 34-year-old mother and her 3-months child died last Friday, after being electrocuted by sagging cables at Bowa, Kombani in Kwale County. A memorandum was submitted to the KPLC Board Chairperson so that they can act on the issue put forward.
PEACE AND SECURITY MATTERS
On 27th June 2020 led by our Programs Coordinator - Ms. Hivent Seswa, we joined other Kwale Groups in peace and security deliberation courtesy of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission of Kenya (NCIC) and hosted by Sambasports Youth Agenda.
SUBMISSION OF MEMORANDUM
On 26th June 2020, we joined other CSOs in submitting a memorandum on the Budget Estimates for FY 20/21 to the County Assembly of Kwale. The consolidated memorandum was an analysis of the public funds from the previous Financial Year and on the Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2020/2021.
